William and Kate ‘blindsided’ by Beatrice’s move after Andrew scandal

In the middle of growing scrutiny over Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, their daughter Princess Beatrice has now sparked fresh royal controversy — reportedly leaving Prince William and Princess Kate “genuinely upset and blindsided.”
On October 27, Princess Beatrice appeared as the star guest at a luxurious event titled “Afternoon Tea with Princess Beatrice of York” held at the lavish Ritz-Carlton in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — a venue deeply connected to her father’s former dealings and diplomatic ties during his ten-year role as the UK’s Special Representative for International Trade and Investment.
Royal insiders say the timing and location were highly sensitive, given the ongoing fallout surrounding Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s Epstein-linked scandals.
A palace source told Closer Magazine:
“It was seen as tone-deaf… especially considering the venue’s reputation and the controversies surrounding Andrew and Sarah.”
“William and Kate were genuinely upset when the pictures emerged.”
According to insiders, the Prince and Princess of Wales believed Beatrice and Eugenie would remain firmly aligned with the Palace’s risk-free approach, especially after recent media storms.
Now, the Palace is stepping in.
Senior aides have reportedly activated stricter controls, enforcing an “office-style approval system” for all public appearances involving Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
From now on — no royal appearances without explicit Palace clearance.
The directive is clear:
“They can’t risk another scandal linked to the York name.”
