I slowly set down my coffee.

“I know what?”

He pointed to the signature.

“T&E Property Holdings.”

I looked at the letter.

“Yes.”

Paige picked it up.

Her eyes moved across the page.

Then they widened.

“This can’t be right.”

“What?” Graham asked.

She continued reading.

“The lease is being terminated?”

Graham nodded.

“Effective January 1.”

The exact date they had chosen for me.

I took another sip of coffee.

Paige looked at me.

Then at Graham.

Then back at me.

“Evelyn…”

I didn’t respond.

She lowered the letter.

“Did you know about this?”

“I knew the house was owned by T&E Property Holdings.”

Graham’s expression hardened.

“How long?”

I thought about the question.

“Long enough.”

His jaw tightened.

“Mom, what exactly does that mean?”

Before I could answer, Paige turned toward him.

“Maybe this is just a mistake.”

Graham immediately called the number printed on the notice.
