PART6: My Sister and I Gave Birth on the Same Day—My Parents Spent 9 Hours With Her, Then My Husband Heard Their Plan

PART6

But I wasn’t prepared for what we would find.

When Ben turned onto our street, I noticed a white moving van parked outside our house.

My heart dropped.

“Ben.”

“I see it.”

There were two men standing near the back of the van.

My father was beside them.

Kyle was carrying a large cardboard box.

And my mother was standing on our front porch holding a set of keys.

I felt my hands go cold.

“Stop the car.”

Ben parked across the street.

He turned toward me.

“Stay here with Eleanor for a moment. I’ll see what’s happening.”

“No.”

I shook my head.

“I’m coming with you.”

He looked concerned.

“Odalie, you’ve just given birth.”

“I know. But I’m not hiding in a car while people try to take over my home.”

He nodded.

We got out together.

My father noticed us first.

His expression changed.

“Odalie! Finally!”

He sounded almost relieved.

“You’re home. Good. We need to finish getting everything organized.”

I looked at the moving van.

Then at the boxes.

“What exactly are you doing?”

Mom smiled awkwardly.

“Just getting a few things ready for your sister.”

I stared at her.

“Why are there movers outside my house?”

Kyle answered before she could.

“Your mother said we could start bringing our belongings today.”

I looked directly at him.

“Who told you that?”

He pointed toward my mother.

“She did. She showed us the signed agreement.”

I turned toward her.

“Mom, I want everyone to stop what they’re doing.”

She rolled her eyes.

“Don’t embarrass yourself, Odalie. We’ve already discussed this.”

“No. You discussed it. We never agreed.”

Dad stepped forward.

“Enough. This is becoming ridiculous.”

Ben moved beside me.

“Everyone needs to leave the property.”

My father looked at him.

“You don’t need to get involved.”

Ben’s voice remained calm.

“It’s my house too.”

Mom folded her arms.

“You’re making a terrible mistake. Your sister has a newborn. Where exactly do you expect her to go?”

I looked at Medelli’s husband.

“Has your apartment been sold?”

Kyle shook his head.

“No.”

“Have you been evicted?”

“No.”

“Is your apartment unsafe?”

He hesitated.

“Not exactly.”

“Then why are you moving into our house?”

Kyle looked uncomfortable.

Mom interrupted.

“They need more space!”

I took a breath.

“Then find a bigger apartment.”

My father suddenly raised his voice.

“Do you think you’re better than everyone because you have a nice house?”

I looked at him.

“No. I think I have the right to decide who lives in it.”

He stepped closer.

“After everything we’ve done for you?”

I finally said what I had kept inside for years.

“You’ve spent my entire life telling me that I’m independent. Every time I needed support, you reminded me that I could manage alone. But now that you need something from me, suddenly I’m supposed to sacrifice everything because we’re family?”

Nobody answered.

I continued.

“I paid my own tuition. I worked for my career. Ben and I saved for this house. I sent you money every month when you were struggling with your mortgage. And not once did I demand anything in return.”

My mother looked away.

“That was different.”

“How?”

She didn’t answer.

Then I looked at Medelli.

She was standing beside Kyle, holding her newborn son.

For the first time, she looked uncertain.

“Medelli, did you know they were bringing the movers today?”

She nodded slowly.

“Mom said everything was arranged.”

“Did you ever ask me?”

She looked down.

“No.”

I nodded.

“Then you need to understand something. I love you. I love your son. But you cannot build your future by taking away the security Ben and I worked so hard to create for our daughter.”

Medelli’s eyes filled with tears.

Before she could respond, my mother stepped forward.

“You’re being cruel to your own sister.”

I turned toward her.

“No, Mom. I’m finally setting a boundary.”

Then something unexpected happened.

One of the movers approached my father.

“Sir, we’re having a problem.”

Dad turned impatiently.

“What now?”

The mover held up a document.

“The person who arranged this job told us the homeowners had authorized the move. But the woman at the door says they haven’t.”

He pointed toward me.

“We can’t continue unless the property owner confirms.”

My father grabbed the paper.

“Everything is authorized.”

Ben stepped forward.

“No, it isn’t.”

He took out his phone.

“We have security footage showing you attempting to enter our garage yesterday. We also have the insurance company’s email regarding the occupancy request.”

My mother’s face changed.

“What email?”

Ben looked at her.

“The request submitted using your name.”

She went pale.

Dad looked at her.

“What request?”

She shook her head.

“Nothing. It’s a misunderstanding.”

I looked directly at her.

“Then explain why someone submitted a document using my signature.”

Silence.

Kyle looked at Medelli.

“What is she talking about?”

Medelli appeared confused.

I showed them the photograph of the agreement.

Then Ben showed them the original email.

The moving crew quietly began putting the boxes back into the van.

My father looked increasingly uncomfortable.

Finally, Mom spoke.

“I was only trying to help.”

I stared at her.

“By signing my name?”

“I didn’t forge anything!”

“Then who did?”

She opened her mouth.

Nothing came out.

Ben spoke firmly.

“We’ve contacted the appropriate people to establish how that document was submitted. Until this is resolved, nobody is authorized to enter our property.”

My father looked furious.

“You wouldn’t involve outsiders in a family disagreement!”

Ben answered immediately.

“This stopped being a family disagreement when someone started using documents in our names.”

The movers closed the back of the van.

Their supervisor approached Ben.

“Sir, we’re going to cancel this job until the authorization is clarified.”

Ben nodded.

“Thank you.”

Within minutes, the van drove away.

Kyle carried the box he’d been holding back to his car.

My father remained standing on the porch.

Mom looked at me with an expression I couldn’t understand.

Then she said something that hurt more than I expected.

“I hope you’re happy. You’ve humiliated your entire family.”

I looked at Eleanor sleeping in her car seat.

“No, Mom. I’m protecting mine.”

Part 4: The Truth Behind My Parents’ Plans
Three days later, we received a call from the insurance company.

They wanted to clarify the occupancy request.
